If you’ve been waiting for Virtual Reality headsets to drop in price, this could be your lucky week. Because of the Black Friday / Cyber Monday season, you can save a lot of money on popular VR hardware and software.
Save $200 on the Best VR Headset Available
HTC’s Vive Pro is a pricey device, but if you want the best VR headset available today, the Vive Pro is the clear winner with its dual 1440 x 1600 pixel displays, mechanical head strap, integrated headphones and Valve’s second-generation tracking system.
Starting Thursday at 9 pm PT, HTC will have the Vive Pro headset in three different configurations: You can purchase the full kit, which includes the Vive Pro headset, two Vive Pro controllers, and a pair of Steam VR 2.0 base stations. HTC normally charges $1399 for that setup, but the company and Amazon are offering a $200 discount for the holiday weekend sale.
HTC also offers the Vive Pro Starter Kit for $1099, which includes the original Steam VR 1.0 sensors and controllers, or you can buy the headset solo for $799 as an upgrade for existing Vive owners. However, from Thursday, November 22 at 9 PM PST until Monday, November 26 at 11:59 PM PST, you can save $100 off either purchase.
You can find the Vive Pro bundle on the Vive Enterprise website or Amazon.com. HTC is also running a sale on its Viveport content distribution system, with 100 titles discounted as much as 95%.
Samsung Odyssey Plus
HTC’s Vive Pro isn’t the only high-resolution VR headset on sale this weekend. Samsung is offering a deep discount on its brand-new Odyssey+ Windows Mixed Reality headset. The Odyssey+ hit the market last month with a price tag of $499, but this weekend you can pick one up for as little as $299. The discount applies to orders placed directly at the Microsoft store.
Amazon is also selling a Samsung Odyssey HMD for $299, but don’t be fooled by that deal. Amazon is selling last year’s model, which doesn’t include Samsung’s new Anti-Screen Door Effect display technology.
No Discount on Rift, but Oculus Games are on Sale
Oculus hasn’t announced any sales on its portfolio of hardware, so if you were hoping to pick up a cheap pair of Touch controllers, an extra sensor to enable room-scale tracking, or if you’ve been holding out for a deep discount on an Oculus Rift or Go headset, you’re sadly out of luck.
But if you’ve already got a Rift headset, Oculus has some great deals on content. The company is currently running the “Fall into Fun” sale, which features nearly 50 titles with discounts ranging from 16% to 80% off. Now’s your chance to grab Arizona Sunshine or Skyworld for 50% off or save 39% on Seeking Dawn.
Sony just celebrated two years with the PlayStation VR on the market and the company is still investing heavily in the PSVR platform. With top VR titles such as Skyrim VR, Doom VFR, Creed: Rise to Glory, Firewall Zero Hour and Beat Saber, available on the platform, and Borderlands 2 VR coming next month, Sony’s PlayStation VR is an excellent option for a home VR system.
And with the price of the PSVR headset reduced by $100 until November 26, now’s the perfect time to get in at a discount. You can pick up a core PSVR bundle, which includes the headset and camera, and your choice between Doom VFR or Astro Bot and Moss, for $199. Or you can pick up a full bundle, which includes the headset, the camera, Creed: Rise to Glory, Superhot VR, and two Move motion controllers for $249.
Sony is also offering PS4 consoles for as little as $199, so even if you haven’t invested in Sony’s current gaming platform, you can get yourself started for under $400, which is an incredibly compelling price for a complete virtual reality platform.
TPCast Wireless Kit Comes with a Gift
TPCast didn’t discount its wireless VR adapter for Black Friday, but the company is offering a nice bonus to anyone who orders a kit this weekend. The Oculus Rift Wireless kit is currently out of stock, but TPCast will toss in an extra battery with the purchase of a Wireless Adapter for HTC Vive. It is also offering to cover the cost of shipping to sweeten the deal even more.
TPCast’s offer should be of particular interest to Vive owners with Ryzen-based PCs because HTC just announced that its wireless solution isn’t fully compatible with AMD’s platform.
